books that I will read over sem break (on my laptop :/)

  • Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn
  • Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler
  • Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
  • Dark Places by Gillian Flynn
  • Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
  • Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen
  • The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen

… once I finish Disturbance of the Inner Ear.  yay for YA.  if I ever find my copy of The Curious Case of the Dog in the Nighttime (which I misplaced a while back), I’ll read that too.

If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. When you find her up at 2 AM clutching a book to her chest and weeping, make her a cup of tea and hold her. You may lose her for a couple of hours but she will always come back to you. She’ll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are. Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you’re better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads.

book&lit challenge, day 2

your 5 least favorite books of all time

  1. New Moon - Stephenie Meyer. because once upon a time, I was a Twilight fan. and this book just screwed up the whole series for me.
  2. The Alchemist - Paolo Coelho. I don’t mean to offend any fans, but I probably will when I say that Coelho is overrated and boring. this is the only book of his that I have attempted to read and I fell asleep on it. I’m all for *~inspiring~* and *~deep~* lit, but I just could not get into The Alchemist.
  3. Pop Princess - Rachel Cohn. maybe my expectations were too high. I actually do like some of Rachel Cohn’s other work. but this one was just sort of blah. stereotype-ridden and fickle.
  4. The Five People You Meet in Heaven - Mitch Albom. I hate being required to read shit I don’t want to read. (this is another one where I will offend many fans.) truth be told, it’s possible that if I weren’t required to read this, I might have enjoyed it.
  5. War & Peace - Leo Tolstoy. again, required reading. and it’s too damn long. it’s about five lifetimes too long. and we had to finish it (we didn’t) in less than three months.
