So I was looking into formal defection from the Catholic Church and found out that, basically, you can’t do it.  There was, for a while, a process one might go through in order to repeal one’s membership in the Catholic Church.  From what I read, it involves a formal letter and some fees (not surprising).  But there was recent action against it, and now the only way to un-Catholic yourself is by excommunication.

I just read about Irish priests against the ‘Report Pedophilia’ Bill and I need to let this out.

I don’t understand how you can care about a God more than people.  I don’t understand how you can place a deity above your living, breathing, suffering fellow man.  and if you do believe in God, why do you think you can impose an identity upon him?  why do you think you can tell others what he does and how he judges mankind?  if you don’t believe that every human being deserved the same treatment that you and your church deserve, then what of this “acceptance” and “unconditional love”?  I am so frustrated.

this is without a doubt one of the most ridiculous things I have ever watched.

what the fuck is happening to the Church?  why has it been deemed necessary to teach children about religion by telling them that they have to be filled with shame?  I will not follow a faith that only knows how to glorify the higher being by convincing its worshipers that they are not worthy of the life they were given.  and I most certainly will not do good to my fellow man out of the mere fear that I’ll go to hell if I don’t.

you want your children to believe that God is merciful and kind?  then why do you try your hardest to instill in them fear of a place where they will suffer for eternity?  if you stand by the claim that God is all-powerful, why would you let them believe that he would punish them that way?

music is just one more aspect of popular culture.  and if you really and truly believe, it won’t warp your faith.  the only reason it could warp your faith in the first place is because you DON’T believe strongly enough.

I grew up being taught the ways of Jesus, and how I understood them, they did not involve spreading good will just because you’re scared of hell as an alternative.

and at the end of the video, the creator has the nerve to say “God loves you all and so do I.”  I saw nothing in this clip denoting any kind of “love”.

for all they claim about their faithfulness, I don’t understand why these kinds of people think that they have the right and power to speak on their god’s behalf and judge their fellow men.
